December-

Thursday 1st December

For this drama lesson I wasn't in as I had a medical appointment.

Friday 2nd December

I began the day with some blog and then we went to drama where we started with some vocal and body warm up which we do every lesson, after the warm up we moved onto a exercise involving different lines for example we would say a few lines and then involve that chosen sentence or finish it or start it with that line.

 Monday 5th December

We updated our blogs as well on things we did the previous week, next in the pastoral lesson we continued on our blogs which we did in the previous lesson whereas some had to speak to our teacher about our academical choices for next year.

Tuesday 6th December

We watched a Peter Pan pantomime done by the Level 3 drama group, the performance itself was amazing I liked how they customize it to make it a drama as well as a comedy but to also keep to the main story of it. My favourite character in this version was Tinkerbell as she portrayed a lot of body movement as well as Mr Smee was a very comedic character who would make me laugh with doing the smallest thing but would exaggerate it to be funny.

Friday 9th December

We had to complete the rest of our blogs from the term of 2016 before we moved onto our next unit/project.

clash of the concerts - Unit 4

Unit 4- Clash of the concerts

Monday 7th November

In Becca's production lesson we completed a worksheet about the set up for Britney Spears concert in Las Vegas which was meant for Tuesday lessons but the internet wasn't working, next lesson we went onto blog. Drama was next. for the warm up we each did a small dance to the music, three groups had been given three titles, my group who included Bruno, Pedro and Nerrisa was given "Why cant I do that" where we based the play in a gym and Pedro is the manager and Bruno is a personal trainer and so Nerissa and myself go to that certain gym but we get told we cant stay as we are both female which we ignore and still enter, the boys decide to give us three challenges to do in the gym and if we pass every single one of them and if we don't we leave, the first challenge is on a running machine which we complete, the second one is a plank which gets the boys annoyed as we pass that one as well and finally they give us a challenge that they couldn't even complete including a weight, we both complete the tasks meaning that our characters could stay in the gym and we end the piece with Pedro being frustrated and saying "Why can't I do that".

Tuesday 15th November

We began our Drama lesson with a warm up which helps us to focus throughout the rest of the lesson and there, as well as helps our voice to become louder as well as we are developing our improve skills by also taking risks. We also started with a improve game called "This is not a book" where we used a glasses case instead of a book to portray any object or situation, I used the glasses case a phone where I was on the "phone" saying to my mum how I wanted MAC makeup that instant, I went up a second time portraying the case as a jewellery case opening up the case to find a beautiful necklace, for the third time I portrayed the opened case as a compact mirror where I was doing the finishing touches of my makeup. For our main exercise we used a script and as the script ended in ..... we had to carry on the scene from there, my partner Mya and I did a scene where we see two girls both sister and one of them finds out how her mum is in hospital in a coma and that her dad has left her family to marry someone else. For Mandy's lesson, my drama group and I went to the gym to continue on filming for our drama piece, we then had some free time before beccas lesson where we got a laptop and continued on our blogs.

In beccas lesson we began to start making posters to advertise our celebrities for our assesment for 'Clash of the Concerts', my group decided to pick Jennifer Lopez and this was what we started with.

unit 3 silent movie

November

Friday 4th November
Began by having a production lesson with Becca where we took part in doing student surveys for our college. After this session we did our usual drama warm up t get us focused and prepared as well as to build an awareness of our bodies. Next we did a mime based on cleaning our teeth/morning routine in the bathroom which was kind of weird for me as I do my morning routine in a specific way and then having to mime it differently was strange for me. We then did another short exercise with the theme of comedy, my partner Brad and I decided to do the piece on a rude waiter and a customer, kind of like the piece I did with Caliyah except different as my characters and Brads got into a fight but we developed it to kind of be like a Tom and Jerry fight where one of us gets punched in the face and then imaginary birds would fly around the head of the person that was punched.

Tuesday 8th November
Due to our piece being what our Drama teacher, Rob wanted we decided to do a script with pictures on our play. In Mandy's lesson we recapped a dance we did before the half term which I enjoyed as I like dance, next we had Beccas production lyrics which I missed out due to a orthodontist appointment.

Thursday 10th November
Our Drama lesson was cancelled today as Rob had a appointment he had attend to.

Friday 11th November

Thursday 17th November
Drama began with our usual warm up which began with us walking around a room and then we advanced it by if we walk into something either turn left or right, next we did script work again where me and my partner Jordan based the scene on two friends, boy and girl and the boy is madly in love with the girl and the girl is getting married for the third time as the boy killed her last two husbands to be with her on her, on the day of her marriage he confesses that he killed them to her and that shes going to be with her forever.

Friday 18th November
We mainly worked on our blogs in production class and then I continued on my poster, for drama I got to go on lunch a bit earlier as our teacher was filming another group for our drama group.

Monday 21st November
Worked on improving and updating my blog, next I had drama where I didn't have to go to the lesson due to everyone doing their filming.

Tuesday 22nd November
In drama, we had the task of getting into partners and to tell our partners about our morning until we got to school, next our partners do the same thing by telling us their morning in the space of 1 minute. After both partners told each other their stories we had to fine new partners and tell them their previous partners story. After we got into new partners and then got into larger groups of 4 and 5, as before we had to tell everyone the stories that we had heard, then to create a silent piece of acting, my group and I decided to do the piece base on my morning. In Mandy's lesson we started the lesson off with a full body warm up to relax our bodies as well as to improve our movement capability. Next we moved onto improving certain dance moves we had been working on before, afterwards we had to perform this to the class. In our production lesson we worked more on the posters that we had created for our concert, I decided to complete the whole concert which was a success involving positive feedback from my group and other groups.

Thursday 24th November
In Drama we continued on our Silent Movie Project by working and recapping ourselves on our scenarios when we then had to go the music room and meet with the music group to start creating background music for our pieces. I found this really helpful as it showed me the timing of the music for different movement

Friday 25th November
We had a choice on whether to work on our posters or continue with blog so I decided to continue with my blog as I was a little bit behind. In drama we got into small groups and began doing some improvisation exercise's such as 'Postcard' where we were given a country and had to create a still image based around the countries famous features. Next we moved onto trying to recreate scenes from famous films such as the Godfather and Avatar and Star Wars and used to portray scenes.

Monday 28th November
In Blog we focused on refreshing them for what we've done so far as well as completing more tests on PropPortal for our person achievements page. In Drama I did have a lesson as one of three silent movie groups including my group was recording so we didn't have a lesson so instead I went home.

Tuesday 29th November
In Drama we started the lesson with a vocal warm up involving the repetition of the letters C, G, L, N, D, T, M, P, B and then BAH, this activity would then improve our speech confidence and pronunciation, we also kept a low constant hum which helped us clear our diaphragm. After completing our vocal and bodily warm up we moved onto doing an activity where it was based in an art gallery and there was two people playing 2 spies and they had to make contact before a police officer had to try and see who the spies is and to catch them before the spies make contact. The next activity we had to do was based at an Awards Ceremony and we were given a card rated from 1 to 7 (e.g. 1 being the highest and would be the highest paid actor or actress and anything from 5 to 7 was an ace or an waiter) I had the card numbered 4 so I acted very nice towards everyone in their role. Finally the last activity we did involved a table, chair and a water bottle and we had to arrange it so the water bottle was the highest, after we had to arrange it so ourselves was the most important thing or the main focus. In Mandy's lesson we started an activity that involved doing exercises from a white board i.e. 1. Run, 2. Walk etc, this helped to warm up our bodies as well to increase our movement capability in our bodies which was then followed up with more activities and the lesson. Next we moved onto doing full complete body warm up which constituted of different stretches and different core strengths exercises. After doing the warm up we went into groups and started working on creating a new walking piece which we has to complete as one big group as well as everyone in the class, after presenting it we separated we had to adapt it and include new movements to the walking sequence that went along with the beat. In Beccas production lesson we were allowed to go early as we did not have a lesson for that day.

unit 3 silent movie

Unit 3- Silent Movie Project

Thursday 3rd November
We began our first Drama lesson after half term by talking about our upcoming assignment "Silent Film" project, we started by practicing miming a pole and holding it as well as turning it round in a circle or up and down. Next we did a mime with the scene based on a waiter serving a customer a beverage, my partner Caliyah and I based the scene in a restaurant and she played an elderly customers whereas I played a cheeky waiter and I get her order wrong 3 times as well as doing mistakes 2 times. We then did a scene with a piece of music (The Stranglers-Turn the centuries, turn) and my group based it on a robbery gone wrong.

Monday 14th November

Started the day with completing a blog session for two hours, then going to Drama where the music students met us and our teachers told us how they would be doing our pieces music, my group and I for the Silent Film project then went down to the college's gym after the discussion and we filmed some of our scenes with the media group, this was my first time doing this and I felt in a happy place as I'm not camera shy and so I felt more than happy to do it.

unit 1 identity

Unit 1- Identity

Thursday 22th September
Started with a Drama lesson, where we worked in the theater to get used to our surrounding for the upcoming performance of "Identity" , as well as gave us a overview of where our voices need to be for the live performance. We played different games such as It! as well as a new game for me called Famous person which consisted of someone leaving the room acknowledging that they are a famous person but they don't know what famous person they are yet, once returning into the room all the other members of the room begin going up to the now famous person and either complimenting them or giving horrible comments to then the person has to guess who it is.

Friday 23rd September
Day began with another blog session to continue our blogs as well as improve them, after a hour of doing that we went to our drama lesson where we spent the rest of the lesson doing activities such as describing our partners facial features without looking as well as when both partners talk about what they are going to do for the weekend and who ever stops first to listen losses, we finally played a game called mafia which helped our improv skills.

Monday 26th September

Continued writing our blogs, drama next where we began working on our piece of identity. We started this by everyone getting into three groups and then someone from those groups would pick a piece of paper which had a one of the ideas for identity written on it, next we would do a scene based off of that idea, for example my group had background so we decided to do a detention scene and a really smart girl who everyone calls the "nerd" shows up so all the other kids are shocked and surprise as she's meant to be really good and so someone asks her and then we go into another scene showing her background i.e. her life at outside of school at home. Unfortunately we ran out of time we improve the scene and add the other characters backgrounds.

Tuesday 27th September
In drama we began with the opening of the production by all sitting in chairs but hey were lined up side by side and we each had to write what identity meant to us we then swapped the papers around and had to read them all out individually. Next we got back into the groups we did the background work with and improved it by linking another school scene with our one, making it into one big whole detention scene.

After drama we then moved onto a movement class, which included us first dancing with a partner like ball room as well as working on developing our movement skills, next we had to do a activity of portraying a famous character and replicating their known actions for example I did Charlie Chaplin so then me and my partner would then portray Chaplin's movements. After that we then went on to do some stretching exercises allowing us to improve our flexibility, we then moved on to do some core workouts.
For the production lesson I missed out as a accident occurred involving my head which got my sent home.

Thursday 29th September
In drama we continued to work on our identity pieces, where each got the chance to work with our teacher to link all of our plays together to link it all together to make one whole play of 'Identity', we also confirmed how we are going to put the set all together in a quick but none messy way.

Friday 30th September
Continued on our blogs.

Monday 3rd October

Advanced on our blogs as well as improved them, had a tutorial lesson where we got taught the different rights and conventions of the European Union and had to pick 4 rights which stood out to us a person, next we got into groups of 4 and had to pick 4 rights out of 12 which stood out to all of us, we then had to explain the rights we picked and the reasoning behind it.
After those two periods we had Drama where we worked on our Identity piece, we mainly worked on the beginning of the play like the cues to go into the next scene or for someone to talk etc. For the ending of the play we had decided for everyone to say "I am human none the lesson" in English as well as in different languages like German, Spanish and Italian. This was decided as a way to promote culture and equality as well as diversity into the name of Identity.

Tuesday 4th October
We did two run through of 'Identity' whilst advancing it whilst going through it such as movement, voice exaggeration and gestures. We decided to exaggerate the whole of the play as before it was too naturalistic i.e. like Eastenders so we needed to make it something different too amaze the audience. After doing those two run through we performed it in front of the Level 3 second year students of what we had done so far, when the performance finished we all got really good feedback as well as told us how we could improve it.

Next we had a movement class, where we continued to rehearse our performance expect Mandy helped us do the exaggeration part as she would stop us throughout and tell us to make our movements bigger and bigger which I liked as it helped me know how to exaggerate better, we also looked at a scene where it showed sexist stereotypical views on the male and female gender such as for girls we had portray us putting on makeup thoroughly and for boys cheering at a football game we then linked them together with a happy ending.
In production lesson we developed our essays about our roles in the theater.

Thursday 6th October
In drama we focused on improving the finale bits to our pieces for 'Identity', we finally got to the stage of a run through where we included our bodily movements and language as well as spacing from the help of Mandy.

Friday 14th October

Today we had our performance for Identity and it went really well and I think everyone did good. Before we performed the play though I did have a lot of issues during the rehearsals as some people would lead the class which I didn't like as there was a teacher there to help us get through it not that person but I worked through it by ignoring that person and their comments. My strengths during the performance was my voice as I am a naturally loud person I didn't have a problem with projecting my voice so the whole audience  could hear me but I did have a problem with my exaggerated gestures as I am used to doing naturalistic acting that I forgot to exaggerated.

UAL L2 unit 1 week 1

Monday 12th September   ~

It was my official first day of having a full day of lessons so I went in at 13:00 where we spoke about our timetables and the rules in Westminster Kingsway and then we had Drama at 15:30 until 17;00 where we focused mainly on new games and group focus concentration activities such as ZAP.

Tuesday 13th September

I had Drama from 11:15 untill 13:00 where we  practiced voice warm  ups e.g.

  • C,G
  • L,N,D,T
  • M,P,B, (BAH)
This exercise was to make us pronounce words properly whilst performing and to get used to speaking proper. We also did movement activity activities and improvisation work in which partners were given a sheet on paper and had to improve work off a few lines of their own choosing. WE also did our first production lesson with Becca greenwood where we watched videos of Diversity, the blue man group, cirque de sole and the play bouncers (only the first 10 minutes), below is a image of what we learnt.

Wednesday 14th September ~ No Lessons all day

#Thursday 15th September ~

From this lesson, we began with doing voice warm-ups such as C,G,L,N,D,T,M,P,B than BAH. This activity enabled our voices to be become more confident and to pronounce our words more clearer. We then did some group games such as postcard where our teacher had to give us the names of countries and we had to do actions to portray the country and then freeze frame it like a postcard. We then moved on improv which included us being given a piece of music that sounded like a lullaby, so the aim of the pieces were to make a scene based around the music, my group and I decided to do the scene about a girl who has horrible parents but once she goes to sleep and the music starts playing she wakes up with loving parents and a happy home but when she falls back asleep shes back to reality.

Friday 16th September~

My first lesson was a blog lesson where we continued writing up our blogs which we do every Monday and Friday.

We then had a drama lesson where we went over our voice warm ups as well as began to explore our production play on the theme of "identity".

With this mind map,our drama teacher then asked us to go away and think about ideas for the play but to base it around the theme of identity as well as to include those ideas.

Monday 19th September

Staring off this day we began with a production lesson with Becca where we mainly concentrate on our blogs, we next had a acting lesson where we did more vocal warm ups  and exercises for the diaphragm in order to advance our speech, this would then help enable our voices to become louder so if we were in a play the audience on the back row could us clearly like the audience on the front row. We then had to do improvisation activity on the homework we did for identity over the weekend, ,my partner Nerissa and I decided to do a scene based off the book "Noughts and Crosses" .

Tuesday 20th September
We had our first movement lesson with Mandy today and in this lesson we learnt how to expand on our flexibility and our stretching ability, which included stretching out  our abdominal and core muscles to develop our strength through movement. in this lesson we began with doing a clapping exercise where we would be split into four different groups, two groups would be given a clapping rhythm to rehearse with and the other two groups would add different dances moves to the beat.

In our production lesson we began talking about our essay roles (mine was Sound technician), we mainly spoke about information about our roles i.e. where they work, how much they earn as well as other parts to their job. We also discussed how to organise our essay and from there we began writing up our essay until the end of the lesson.
